Activities on Salt Cay

Ranging from World Class diving and snorkeling with local dive operators

to fishing trips arranged with local fishermen

fishing on salt cay with uncle lionel or one of many other local fishermen that are happy to accommodate your desires

Salt Cay is off the beaten track and with no hotels or crowds the visitor will enjoy the easy pace of outdoor TC island living and daily enjoyment will focus exclusively on your relaxation, good health and humour. For a list of activities check out our page at www.saltcaytours.com

Besides the excellent diving and pretty beaches Salt Cay is rich in history and for over three hundred years the economic and community life centered around salt raking and exportation of salt to many ports around the world. Today Salt Cay is a nominee as a ‘World Heritage Site” because of the many reminders of British colonialism and the salt raking industry found across the island.

In fact the owner of ‘Pirates Hideaway by the Sea’, an aspiring local historian will explain all the historic sites and can arrange a viewing of one of the old salt merchant’s homes which were built in the early 1800s.

Along the coastline are many areas to beach comb for shells and sea glass and the breathtaking Salinas are home to a myriad of migrating birds. Bird watching and photography are definitely a worthwhile pastime. See Pirates hideaway webpage at www.Turksandcaicosbirdwatching.com

Salt Cay is less than 3 miles long and hikers enjoy ambling to the top of Taylor Hill to visit the oldest ruin and see the spectacular panoramic view of Salt Cay.

Relax with a good book on one of the beautiful sandy beaches, snorkel from the beach, swim with the stingrays, dive the HMS Endymion wreck and the active adventurer can go clamming in South Creek and catch their supper.

And then again for those that prefer to sunbath and lounge around a very private swimming pool nestled in a tropical garden, well you only have to step into the garden at Pirates Hideaway. During the evening there is soft lighting around the pool for night time swimmers and naturellement cold beer in the fridge…
